A secured card with no fixed minimum deposit and 0% interest, built entirely around the Current mobile app. It's the only card here with no APR to worry about, but it only works if you're comfortable banking through a phone.

The bottom line
The Current Build Card removes the two biggest friction points of secured cards: there's no fixed minimum deposit and no interest charged, ever. The tradeoff is real, though: everything happens inside the Current app, so anyone who wants a traditional online application or a physical bank branch should look elsewhere.Jump to:The detailed review

The detailed review
Current took a different approach than the traditional secured card. Instead of a fixed minimum deposit, you decide how much of your own money to set aside inside the Current app, and that amount becomes your credit line. There's no interest charged, because the card is secured by funds you already control.
The catch is the delivery: this is not a card you apply for on a website. Everything, from opening the account to funding the deposit to managing the card, happens inside Current's mobile app. If you're not comfortable doing your banking primarily on a phone, this adds real friction.
For someone who wants a traditional online application and a fixed, published deposit range instead, Capital One's Platinum Secured is a more conventional path.
